I've re-edited this with a fresh stereo track of the original single mix. Blistering solo from Ronno, and possibly the best rock song of the 70's. There, I've said it.

All American Alien Boy is the second solo album of Ian Hunter. Because of management issues, Mick Ronson wouldn't appear on this album. Instead, he brought in Chris Stainton in order to act as balancing force in the studio. Unlike his previous album, the album didn't feature any of his trademark rockers and he opted for a more jazzy direction. In 2006, the album was reissued with several bonus tracks. Personnel: * Ian Hunter: Lead vocals, Rhythm guitar, Piano, Backing vocals * Chris Stainton: Piano, Organ, Mellotron, Bass guitar on "Restless Youth" * Jaco Pastorius: Bass guitar * Aynsley Dunbar: Drums * Gerry Weens: Lead guitar * David Sanborn: Alto Sax * Dominic Cortese: Accordion * Cornell Dupree: Guitar on "Letter to Brittania From the Union Jack" * Don Alias: Congas * Arnie Lawrence: Clarinet * Dave Bargeron: Trombone * Lewis Soloff: Trumpet * Freddie Mercury: Backing vocals on "You Nearly Did Me In" * Brian May: Backing vocals on "You Nearly Did Me In" * Roger Taylor: Backing Vocals on "You Nearly Did Me In" * Bob Segarini: Backing vocals * Ann E. Sutton: Backing vocals * Gail Kantor: Backing vocals * Erin Dickens: Backing vocals

According to the semi-official site HunterMott.com, Ian "has said he thought Waterlow was the best song he'd ever written for Mott." But some critics of that period (and the less than successful 3rd album Wildlife, 1971) were not so generous, explaining "he tries so hard to be gorgeous and moody and anthemic and universalist and sweeping at the same time, but instead is just unoriginal and insipid." You decide.

IAN HUNTER fr. MAN OVERBOARD Album - New West Records PART FOUR ( of Five ) Ian Hunter (born Ian Hunter Patterson, 3 June 1939, Oswestry, Shropshire) is an English singer-songwriter. He is the lead singer of the English rock band Mott the Hoople from its inception in 1969 to its dissolution in 1974 and he again fronted them at the time of their 2009 reunion. Hunter was a musician and songwriter before Mott The Hoople, and he continued in this vein after he left the band. As the leading figure in Mott The Hoople, but facing ill-health and disillusioned with commercial success, he embarked on a solo career, often in collaboration with Mott The Hoople's guitarist Mick Ronson, who was well-known as David Bowie's sideman and arranger from the Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars period.[1] Mott The Hoople achieved a certain level of commercial success and a small but devoted fan base. As a solo artist Hunter at times made the charts while most consistently releasing lesser-known but more wide-ranging works outside the rock mainstream. Among his best-known solo records are "Once Bitten, Twice Shy" (later covered by Great White) and "Cleveland Rocks," made famous from a cover version on the American TV series The Drew Carey Show.
