The building, including studios for artists to work in and other technical facilities provided the Bray with top quality facilities to match its world-class reputation as an establishment for ceramic arts. Clay Body Incubator is a sculpture representing this new creative space, which also acts as a wood-fired kiln. The ritual process of firing it was a celebration of the ceramic creativity this new building represents. Kilns and buildings are poetically connected. In the same way a building is structured internally to house human life, so a kiln is built to house fire. Like life, fire needs constant feeding to grow. It can be unpredictable, yet it is always warm. When it dies it turns cold. Fire, in the contained space of this sculpture-kiln brings matter to life through intense heat and vivid light. The Tianjin Women's Business Incubator (TWBI) is a non-profit business incubator based in Tianjin, China's third largest city, dedicated to promoting the growth and development of women-owned businesses of all types in Tianjin. Its day seven and out of 44 eggs we had 4 infertile and 2 early death. Follow along to see the candling. I did not show every egg because the video would have been very long. Instead I picked out the best clips that were easy to see. At the end we have bad egg inspection so you can see what it looks like inside the egg as well. I'm far from being an expert on bearded dragons. This is just what I put together one day when I realized I had eggs on the way and nothing to incubate them in. I ran to the store and bought the cord grommets and a cooler. Everything else I had sitting around the house from previous projects. To my surprise it actually worked!! Whiskers laid her eggs August 14th and 15th of '08 and every one of them hatched out two months later. When I dug the eggs out of the nest box I placed them in a container of moist vermiculite and set them in the incubator. My first ever clutch of bearded dragon eggs stayed in the incubator for 60 days at 86F, and all 23 of them hatched out. One baby died after about 4 days, but none of the others had any trouble at all. As I mentioned before, I am not an expert on bearded dragons. This is just what worked for me once, so I'm trying it again. Maxine is digging in her lay box right now, so hopefully I'll have another clutch of eggs within the next day or two.
