To purchase Iron Butterfly click here: www.amazon.com I first got this album from my uncle when I was about 14. This was in the late 70's. I wondered "Does anybody listen to Iron Butterfly anymore?" This was at the height of the disco and punk era when nobody listened to 60's rock anymore. The first two tracks on this album hooked me (Possession and Unconscious Power). The riffs are neat, clean, and simple. The effects back then are rudimentary. They had to get a trippy sound using primitive equipment. I think they were ahead of their time.

Pop 60s US Iron Butterfly In Gadda Da Vida 1999 live the garden of eden fritz 51135

This is another rare 45 from my collection and was recorded an unknown lineup of Iron Butterfly. This was originally posted on youtube by gypsyball, who I gave a copy of this song to because at the time I didn't have an account here. This was most likely recorded in early to late 1967 or possibly later, but I am unsure. All I know about the lineup is this: Erik Braunn - Lead Guitar Doug Ingle (who I've had the priviledge of talking to) said that he is not on this recording and he is fairly certain that Ron Bushy isn't either. But I do know that this song was played live at the Galaxy Club in the Fall of 1967, except that version had lyrics (sung by Darryl DeLoach), was almost 7 minutes long, and was titled "Time to Ignore Evil Temptation." This song is simply an instrumental jam version of the Galaxy Club one. But again it is unknown when this was recorded and whose in the lineup. Goes to "Pirates World" (amusement park that also held concerts, great place)and starts a mutiny by letting kids into the concert for free. The track was recorded on May 27, 1968, at Ultrasonic Studios in Hempstead, Long Island, New York. The recording that is heard on the album was meant to be a soundcheck for engineer Don Casale while the band waited for the arrival of producer Jim Hilton. However, Casale had rolled a recording tape, and when the rehearsal was completed it was agreed that the performance was of sufficient quality that another take wasn't needed. Hilton later remixed the recording at Gold Star Studios in Los Angeles. The single reached number thirty on the US Billboard Hot 100.
